Walsh Middle School Principal Takes ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Walsh Middle School Principal Patrick Johnson challenges Framingham Superintendent Stacy Scott to take the challenge.

Walsh Middle School Principal Patrick Johnson, his vice principals Beth Herrmann and James Bergeron and key leadership at the Framingham middle school took the ALS ice bucket challenge Friday afternoon,
Johnson, in his first year as principal at Walsh, challenged former Principal Teresa Carney, Fuller Principal Sharon Seyller, Cameron Middle principal Michelle Melick and Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott to take the challenge or donate to ALS too.
This week, the ALS ice bucket challenge hit the $100 million mark raised for ALS charities. Last year, by mid-2013, only about $25,000 had been raised. The challenge was started by former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, who has Lou Gerhig’s disease, also known as ALS.

“It is really important we work hard to find a cure,” said Johnson. ”Until really recently this was like a hidden disease. There was not a lot of research and funding for it. We are trying to stop that.”
