WATCH: Framingham High Wins Boys' Volleyball State Title

The championship is the first for Framingham.

Framingham, MA — For the first time in program history, the Framingham boys' volleyball team is the best in Massachusetts.

The Flyers beat the Needham Rockets 3-0 Wednesday night at Concord-Carlisle High School to capture the MIAA State Championship.

From the start, it was all Flyers with the team taking an early 9-6 lead in the first half. Needham would come back to get within one at 22-21, but Framingham got the three points they needed, winning the set 25-23.

Despite a Needham lead at 8-7, in the second half, the Flyers held a slight advantage for most of a very tight match. Needing extra points to decide the second half, it took 29 points for Framingham to take a 2-0 lead going into the third and final set.

Framingham continued to control the match in the third set. Needham had a chance to extend the game down 23-22, but two straight points from the Flyers decided the state championship.

Framingham finishes the season with a record of 22-1.
