Workbar Framingham To Open August 1

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Workbar, the coworking space company set to open a location at 111 Speen St., has announced a date to open.

The Worcester Business Journal reports that Workbar will open on Aug. 1, one month after the company originally planned to open on July 1.

Workbar is growing in the areas outside of Boston, with a Quincy location that opened on Monday.

CEO Sarah Travers said that, following the opening of the Quincy and Needham locations, Workbar has shifted primary attention to preparing the Framingham space for business.

"Following the outstanding success of our Workbar Needham location, we knew that we needed to make the MetroWest region our next priority," she said, in a December news release.

The Framingham space will occupy more than 21,000 square feet of the building, which was recently purchased by Paradigm Properties and North Colony Asset Management.

According to the company, the Framingham space will include a fully equipped podcast studio and a telepresence room designed "primarily for hybrid work environments."

“These state-of-the-art business amenities will provide companies with highly improved flexibility and will completely transform the ways in which they produce content and work as a whole,” Travers said. “By bringing the office to employees and eliminating lengthy commutes, this new Framingham location is the latest example of Workbar’s commitment to suburban expansion.”

Workbar is just one of the businesses set to open at 111 Speen St. Wayland architectural firm Ai3 signed a long-term lease in December and will occupy the entirety of the third floor.

Both of these deals are part of a $5 million renovation project that will see a new envelope added to the building, a redesigned entryway and landscape improvements "aimed at activating open spaces."

"Workbar and Ai3, together with several lease extensions in the building, represent over 50,000 sf of combined leasing activity at 111 Speen in the past sixty days," officials said.

The office space features an outdoor patio, a café and lounge area, a fitness center with private shower facilities and also access to Workbar, the co-working space occupying the second floor.
