We moved to a newly constructed home in the Forest Hills development in North Grafton in 2007. Beginning in 2008, the water in our commode tanks gave off a horrible dirty, musty swamp water smell. Over the years, the smell is in all water out of every source: commode tanks, faucets, showers, appliances. I called the Water Dist last year and was told it was algae and to turn down the hot water temp. Well, by March of 2013 we were taking cold showers and rinsing hair with distilled water, using warm water elsewhere, but still the smell continued until July - when certain water sources were treated for algae - the smell was gone for two months. It's back. I wrote the Globe who asked that I check with my fellow North Graftonites to see if you too suffer from this smelly water. If you do, how do you combat it? I'm looking a various whole house systems. I will also check again with the Water District for their thoughts. Living like this is no longer an option. Thanks to anyone who replies!
