Brett "Ooch" Outchcunis Positive Spin” program for North Grafton Elementary students

Students in grades K-6 at NSS and NGES enjoyed an amazing performance by Brett Outchcunis, a.k.a. “OOCH” sponsored by the NGES-Parent Teacher Group on Monday, February 25th. Ooch is a professional entertainer, motivator, dancer and DJ rolled into one who specializes in yo-yo dancing. He performed three showings of his “Positive Spin” program for North Grafton Elementary students. The show’s purpose is to empower every student to turn negative situations into positive ones through the use of two simple words - "Spin it".
The performance addresses issues that are important to elementary and middle schoolers and affect them on a daily basis. Ooch discusses and offers the students tips and tricks relating to such issues as popularity, making and keeping friends, earning respect of teachers and peers, becoming comfortable in your own skin, bullying and dealing with failure. Through the use of his own personal stories and the help of music, magic, imagination, yo-yos and dance, Ooch puts a positive spin on the challenges of growing up. (www.oochworld.com )
During his amazing performances, Ooch engaged students and staff and had everyone laughing throughout. They students really picked up on the positive messages he communicated through physical gestures, humor and even yo-yo tricks. Students all walked away with important life lessons that they will always remember about turning negatives into positives, taking a step back when angry and what to do when friends are gossiping or saying things they may not agree with (‘the shrug’). Thank you to the PTG for sponsoring this exciting event!
