Each year, more than 2,000 volunteers come together to make The Walk for Hunger a fun, safe, and successful experience. Please join us for this beloved event on Sunday, May 5, 2013, and be part of the effort to eradicate hunger in Massachusetts. The funds raised through The Walk for Hunger will ensure that people of all ages and cultures have sustainable, reliable access to nutritious food – because Project Bread believes the opposite of hungry is not simply full, but healthy.

Volunteer positions are available in Boston, Brookline, Newton, Watertown, and Cambridge. Whether you bring a group or come by yourself, volunteer for a few hours or stay all day, you are vital to the Walk’s success! For more information, or to register, visit www.projectbread.org/volunteer. You can also email volunteer@projectbread.org or call our volunteer hotline at 617-239-2546.

Be a Stationary Marshal

We need smiling faces to keep Walkers safe and happy by directing them along the Walk route. You can choose your favorite part of the route and we’ll provide the training (not to mention a free Volunteer T-shirt).  It’s a great position to do with a buddy!

Be a Boston Common Registration Volunteer*

We need 200 Volunteers to join us in the morning on the Boston Common. There’s nothing like witnessing the start of the Walk, where thousands of dedicated individuals will be gathered together to end hunger in Massachusetts. Check in Walkers and send them off with a smile.

*Registration Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and attend a brief training before Walk Day. Contact Volunteer Coordinator, Molly Rodau at molly_rodau@projectbread.org or at 617-239-2519 for more details.

Be a Checkpoint Volunteer

We have nine checkpoints along the Walk route that need Volunteers to help Walkers by handing out water, stamping pledge sheets and cheering them on.  We need you to make this happen!

Be a First Aid Volunteer

Are you a nurse, doctor, or EMT? Help keep our Walkers safe and healthy by administering basic first aid on the Boston Common and at each Checkpoint along the Walk route.

Be a Setup or Breakdown Volunteer

Don’t mind getting a little dirty and volunteering before the sun rises or after it sets? Join our setup or breakdown crews and help unload and load supply boxes and setup and takedown tables, chairs, and tents on the Common. This is a great team-building opportunity for groups!
