Willard House and Clock Museum to Celebrate Simon Willard's 258th Birthday

Willard House and Clock Museum is celebrating the , the celebrated clockmaker and native son of Grafton, on Sunday, April 3, by offering free admission and guided tours in honor of the famed clockmaker.

According to a written statement from Willard House, "Simon Willard is one of the United States’ most important clockmakers and inventors, creating many improvements to timepieces as well as developing new styles of clocks."

Willard and his brothers Benjamin, Aaron, and Ephraim were all born in the small farmhouse now known as the , the statement said.

"Simon’s most famous invention is the improved timepiece or ‘banjo clock’ which represented a jump forward in technology—for the first time ever, a person with a small clock would only have to wind once a week instead of once a day." 

Summer hours at the museum restart on Fri., April 1, and the museum will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
