Find What Motivates You: It Isn’t The Cover of a Magazine

Read on for some incentives on getting up, getting out and getting moving! Carrying 1,500lbs of eco-friendly cork flooring into the studio this morning got me thinking...what motivates me?

We all know that person...maybe even are that person...the one who loves to workout. They make time, smile through the sweat, bask in the glow of power bars and coconut water. And for what? Surely it is more than a fancy shoe commercial or the latest in protein bars that get these people out of bed in the morning. So I challenge you to think: what motivates you? (no really, I mean it, comment below or on the Dance Soul Motion Facebook wall)

The majority of people know that working out is great for your health: it leads to longer life expectancy, lower risk of certain diseases and increased levels of hormones that control stress and blood pressure. Some exercises, such as yoga, are also beneficial for the mind: focusing on breath and control. So it just makes sense: working out is good for you. Unfortunately, that isn’t enough.

So take a minute, grab a pen and post-it note(or your keyboard) and write: what motivates me? I’ll go first: carrying my dog’s 35lb bag of food through the store and to my car motivates me as does being able to run around with my little cousins in the summer without becoming winded.
