I Worked Out, Now What: Getting Out of a Rut

Make it all about you!

Sometimes it’s all we can do to get out of bed in the morning. These past two rainy days have even proven hard for the family dog! One day leads to two, two to three and so on and so forth. You put off your today until tomorrow when it eventually becomes a someday. So how do you do it? How do you get out of a rut?

First thing is first: shower. That’s right, cold water, hot water- even a bath- it doesn’t matter; a shower lets your physically wash off whatever is stopping you. Next thing: drink. No, not a 5-O’Clock somewhere drink, good old-fashioned water. Spice is up with fruit to really get you going. Last: move. Grab your keys and drive. Lace up your sneakers and walk. The sooner you aren’t where you’ve been the sooner you’ll be somewhere new.

Ruts are hard and they come at all different points in life for all different reasons, but they shouldn’t rule your life. Take these steps alone, or with a friend - ok, maybe not the shower part  - and reclaim what’s yours: your life!

I’d love to hear how you help yourself, or friends and family, get out of a rut.

To really kick your rut to the curb try something new, like yoga, Pilates or Zumba. For a full listing of classes at Dance Soul Motion visit www.dancesoulmotion.com or check us out on Facebook.
