Years in business: Agri has been involved with karate since 1977 and has owned studios since 1991. He became a black belt in 1983 and is currently a 7th degree black belt.

When was the business started: The studio at this location was started in March 2004.

Business Mentor: Agri said his first Kenpo karate instructor inspired him. He also looks up to Ed Parker, who he called the father of American karate. Parker taught several celebrities, including Elvis Presley.

Quote to Live By: Agri likes the quote, "You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give."

Reside: Northborough

Family: Agri is the youngest of six siblings, an uncle of 17, a great-uncle of 10, and a godfather.

Like best about owning/running this business: "I get a chance to inspire adults and kids to reach their goals and to be the best that they can be through the practice of martial arts," he said. "I like being a positive role model ... Watching people grow is a passion for me."

Like least: "The hours can be challenging."

Where you see yourself five years from now: Agri said he sees a second or third location in the area.

Hobbies: An avid car enthusiast, Agri also has a side business buying, selling and trading vehicles, and has a modern hot rod (a Camaro SS) which he brings to shows.

Advice for someone new to the business: "Make sure you have enough capital to start with. Have a tremendous passion for what you do. Be good at what you do and be ready to work."

Henry Agri owned studios in Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta before opening this business eight years ago. Henry Agri's Kenpo Karate offers combat fitness, Kenpo karate self-defense, yoga, and mixed martial arts.
