Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Day at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School

Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School is one of 27 schools across the state to host FAFSA Day to offer help to college-bound students applying for financial aid. This free event is open to the public. 

According to a written statement from the school, FAFSA Day is a College Goal Sunday Program, a non-profit program providing free information and assistance to Massachusetts families applying for financial assistance for higher education. Volunteer financial aid and higher education experts will help families complete the FAFSA and offer one-on-one assistance.

"FAFSA Day mobilizes financial aid professionals from Massachusetts colleges and universities to help families complete the FAFSA, the federally required form for students seeking financial aid, including grants and loans, throughout the nation," the statement said.  "New this year, FAFSA will be required as part of the application for a Federal PLUS Loan, which is a college loan program for parents. Previously, a FAFSA was only required for a Federal Stafford Loan for students, a non-credit based loan featuring a low fixed interest rate."

Parents and students are encouraged to bring as much of the following information as possible in order to complete the FAFSA:

• A FAFSA Personal Identification Number (PIN), available at www.fafsa.gov, to be used to file electronically
• Most recent tax returns (If you do not have 2010, bring 2009)
• Social Security number
• Driver’s license
• 2010 W-2 forms or year-end pay stubs
• 2010 untaxed income records
• Current bank statements
• 2010 business and investment records
• Alien registration card for non-U.S. citizens
