Grafton Public Library Debt Exclusion Special Election

The Town of Grafton was awarded a $5.08 million grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners to fund a $11.7 million renovation and expansion of the Grafton Public Library.

On December 13, 2011, there will be a special election to authorize a Debt Exclusion to exclude the remaining cost of the project (about $6.7 million) from the town debt and place it outside the limits of Proposition 2 1/2. This vote requires only a simple majority to pass.

Voting Yes means that we will be able to accept the $5.08 million grant and proceed with the Grafton Public Library Expansion Project.

Voting No means that we will have to refuse the $5.08 million grant and we will not be able to proceed with the Grafton Public Library Expansion Project which was approved at the Grafton Town Hall Meeting on October 17, 2011 by a two-thirds majority vote.  New plans to address the many issues (including ADA non-compliance) would then need to be created.
