Summer is upon us and the Fresh Air Fund reminds us that there is still a chance to make it memorable for a New York City child.

Each summer, nearly 4,000 inner-city children visit suburban, rural and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada through The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family Program, said the announcement. By volunteering as a host family in the Metro West of Boston area, you can help give a child a break from the heat and noise of the crowded city streets while enjoying your own backyard. The Fresh Air Fund is currently seeking more families to give inner-city children a Fresh Air experience this summer.

“The simple campfires that we had in our backyards in the evenings turned into special moments when our Fresh Air child’s face lit up with curiosity and enthusiasm as we made s’mores and hotdogs,” said a Fresh Air host mom in the release.
