television and are now in the public domain, available for rebroadcast on public access television.
The program airs on Grafton Community Television Charter Channel 11 / Verizon Channel 34 at 8:00 PM on Fridays and at 7:00 PM on Sundays. The broadcast schedule can also be found at the Grafton Community Television website www.GraftonTV.org at the "program schedule" link and on the GCTV Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/graftontv.Β
In December GCTV personality Jim Gallagher will host the following shows:
Sky King
"Out of the blue of the Western sky comesΒ β Sky King!"Β Β The television adventure series ran from 1951 to 1959 on NBC and ABC. The title character is Arizona rancher and aircraft pilot Schuyler "Sky" King. King captured criminals and spies, and found lost hikers with the use of his plane, the Songbird. King and his niece, Penny (and sometimes Clipper, his nephew), lived on the Flying Crown Ranch, near the (fictitious) town of Grover, Arizona.Β
Cavalcade of Stars
Jackie Gleason's first variety series was aired on the DuMont Television Network.Β Gleasonβwho had made his mark on the first television incarnation of The Life of Rileyβstepped into Cavalcade on July 15, 1950, and became an immediate sensation. The show was broadcast live, in front of a theater audience, and offered the same kind of vaudevillian entertainment common to early-TV revues.
You Asked for It
Hosted by Art Baker. viewers were asked to send in postcards describing something that they wanted to see on television, such as the reenactment of Wiliam Tell shooting an apple off his son's head. Originally airing on the DuMont Television Network from December 29, 1950 to December 7, 1951, it moved to ABC, where it remained until the end of its original run on September 27, 1959. The show was originally broadcast live, so some of the riskier propositions took on added elements of danger and suspense.
Tales of Tomorrow
An American anthology science fiction series that was performed and broadcast live on ABC from 1951 to 1953. The series covered such stories as Frankenstein starring Lon Chaney, Jr.
and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. The series had many similarities to the later Twilight Zone. It ran for eighty-five 30-minute episodes.
Four-Star Revue
A weekly series on NBC from 1950 to 1951 which featured four rotating comedian / hosts - Danny Thomas, Jimmy Durante, Jack Carson and Ed Wynn. In 1951 the title changed to "All-Star Revue" so that other comedians/hosts could perform on a less than once a month schedule.
