Grafton Community Television has rebroadcast a Grafton economic development self-assessment meeting held at the Community Barn on Thursday, September 29th. Grafton business owners, town and regional officials and members of the town's Economic Development Commission were in attendance to provide input for the community participation phase for a study conducted by staff of Northeastern University's Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy.

The goal of the study is to create a practical set of tools for town government to better position itself to attract industry, private investment, a sustainable tax base and high quality good-paying jobs.

A self-assessment tool created by the University is used for evaluating Grafton's characteristics and processes that are directly linked to factors affecting local investment. With over two hundred and fifty questions, the study is a rigorous examination that helps public officials explore their strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. Once the self-assessment is completed, local officials receive a specialized report and specific feedback in each assessment category, and Grafton officials can then use the results as a reality check on their community’s economic development strategy.

The meeting broadcast will be shown on GCTV's Government Channel - Charter Channel 192 / Verizon Channel 33 and will also be available for playback on GCTV's Video on Demand system here. Click 'Video on Demand' and search: 'Planning Dept EconDev Assessment.'
