Grafton Eyed for Medical Marijuana Dispensary?

The state Department of Public Health received 14 applications to operate registered medical marijuana dispensaries with Worcester County as "the first county of preference."

Grafton may be among the towns that is the home to a medical marijuana dispensary.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health said Friday that it has received 14 applications to operate registered medical marijuana dispensaries with Worcester County as "the first county of preference."

Grafton Town Planner Stephen Bishop said it is unclear if any Grafton companies have applied. "Once potential owners/developers have been approved you will start to see discussion about sites," said Bishop. "There was a party who met with the Board of Health regarding a potential site in CenTech Park in North Grafton. We don’t know whether that party will pass the first approval step by the state."

"Applicants were not required to submit a town in this stage of the application process," DPH Media Relations Manager Anne Roach said.
