Grafton Getting More Than $500,000 for Bridge and Road Repairs

Rep. Muradian has secured nearly $1.3 million for Grafton, Upton and Northbridge.

GRAFTON, MA — State Representative David K. Muradian, Jr., R-Grafton, announced that Grafton, Northbridge and Upton will receive nearly $1.3 million for local road and bridge repairs. The funding was included as part of a $200 million Chapter 90 bond authorization approved by the House of Representatives on March 30, said an announcement.

“This is great news for our district as it means additional funding will soon be available to address the infrastructure needs for our communities during the 2016 construction season,” said Rep. Muradian in a statement. “A mild winter combined with these funds should go a long way toward improving the quality of our roads and bridges.”

The Towns of the 9th Worcester District stand to receive the following funding amounts:

Grafton will receive $500,310;

Northbridge will receive $473,148; and,

Upton will receive $318,917.

Chapter 90 funds are used for municipal roadway projects, including resurfacing, drainage, sidewalks, traffic control and street lighting. The funding can also be used for bikeways, landscaping and tree planting, and for certain road building machinery, equipment and tools.

The bill heads to the senate for further action.
