A 2008 Mazda operated by Sherri A. Poirier, 37, of 14 Pigeon Hill Dr., Grafton, was among the nine vehicles involved in an accident this morning on Route 9 eastbound in Westborough.
The Westborough police and fire departments responded to the Otis Street intersection at 10:09 a.m.Β
Lt. Brian Roberts of theΒ said that Westborough paramedics transported two people with serious injuries, including a 4-year-old,Β to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. The Jaws of Life were initially requested, but Roberts said that firefighters did not need to use them.

According to a statement from Police Chief Alan Gordon, βA witness reported that a 2002 Kia Rio was observed heading east at a high rate of speed, weaving between the lanes.β
The car struck four cars that were stopped in the left turn lane and four others that were stopped in the passing lane by driving down the middle of the two lanes. Both people taken to the hospital were passengers of the Kia.

Northborough Fire Department was called to assist at the scene.

- 2007 Honda, operated by Susan K. Druker, 57, of 19 Bolton St., Worcester
- 1997 Ford, operated by Barbara E. Coe, 27, of 81 Cortland Circle, Leominster
- 2008 Toyota, operated by Lizania Osterman, 26, of 7121 Homestead Blvd., Westborough
- 2005 Honda, operated by Amit Kumar Sharma, 35, of 6 Olde Colony Dr., Shrewsbury
- 2009 Subaru, operated by Andrea Davish, 39, of 37 Chippewa Rd., Worcester
- 2010 Honda, operated by Susan Pearson, 45, of 7 South Barn Rd., Hopkinton
The driver of the Kia that caused the accident was Chanelle M. Medina, 22, of 16 Breck St., Worcester. The injured adult was identified as Miguel Ayala-Landaverde, 24, of 60 Green St., Worcester. The accident is being investigated by Officer Terry Peters.
The cleanup effort included removal of leaking fluids from the involved cars. At least four cars were towed from the accident.Β
The accident was cleared and highway traffic resumed normally at about 10:45 a.m.
