Using hydraulic dredging, sediment removal and pumping equipment are mounted on the floating barge. A suction pipe and cutter head are controlled from the dredge and lowered through the water in accumulated sediments, according to material provided by the town.
A centrifugal pump creates strong suction, which transports the water and sediment through a pipeline laid across the pond into a disposal area.
