Pumpkin Carving Contest to Benefit the Community Harvest Project

It's pumpkin time again! Fun and prizes all included at PSK's Second Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest!

It’s pumpkin time again, and on Thursday, October 22nd Perro Shotokan Karate is hosting its Second Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest! In addition to great prizes and lots of pumpkin carving fun, the event is in support of the Community Harvest Project in North Grafton. There is a $5 entry donation, and 100% of the money collected will be given to the Community Harvest Project. Last year’s first place winners, a father and son team, created a white squash carving inside an orange pumpkin and there were also Batman pumpkins, tree house pumpkins and creatively painted and bedazzled creations.

Perro Shotokan Karate is proud to hold an event to support the work done through the Community Harvest Project. In 2014 the Community Harvest Project donated over 268,000 pounds (or 1.1 million servings) of fresh fruits and vegetables to hunger relief organizations. In Worcester County over 99,000 people use food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, and the Community Harvest Project provides a substantial supply of high quality nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables to these organizations.

The contest starts at 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 22nd, and judging and prizes will be awarded at 8:00 PM. Anyone who brings a canned or packaged non-perishable food item, will get a free pumpkin (while supplies last). The first place winner will get a reusable Halloween bag filled with treats and a gift certificate for three months of karate training. And of course there are greatl second and third place prizes too! Visit Perro Shotokan Karate website and click on the “Pumpkin” link for more information.
