Swan With Hook In Its Neck Rescued From Worcester Lake
A woman spotted a swan with a hook stuck in its neck in a lake near her home. Tufts Wildlife Center treated the animal.
WORCESTER, MA—Rescuers from the Animal Rescue League of Boston responded to help a swan who was in some serious trouble in Worcester on Sunday.
A woman spotted in a lake behind her home a family of swans, with one of the young swans struggling with a hook embedded in its neck. She called ARL, and rescue technician Danielle Genter responded to the call.

"The swan was at the far end of the lake, which was covered in vegetation," said ARL spokesperson Dot Joyce. "This made paddling the kayak out to the swan quite a challenge. We were finally able to get close enough to the swan to scoop it into a net and then placed it into the kayak for the ride back to the dock."
