290 Detour for Belmont Street Bridge Rehab Project

Plan on a 290 detour while the Belmont Street Bridge is updated.

Announcement from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation:

Beginning at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, through 5 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, a section of I-290 in Worcester will be closed to traffic and detoured to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

The closure and detour is to allow for the safe installation of a temporary pedestrian bridge over I-290 immediately parallel to the Belmont Street Bridge over the highway. The temporary footbridge is a component of the rehabilitation of the Belmont Street Bridge and will allow pedestrians to detour safely around the bridge work zone.
