Traffic Alert: Carroll Road Reconstruction

The project should take about three weeks. Drivers and residents take note.

GRAFTON, MA—The Department of Public Works has started the prep work to reconstruct Carroll Road from Worcester Street to Countryside Road.

The project may entail some of the following activities, per Grafton DPW:

  • Removal and relocation of encroachments within the Town right-of-way (i.e. mailboxes).
  • Drainage installation for storm water management.
  • Regrading of sub-grade and minor vertical/horizontal alignment changes for drainage and safety improvements.
  • Adjustment of drainage/sewer structure frames, water/gas gates.
  • Placement of bituminous concrete.
  • Loam and seed shoulder area (lawn areas near edge of pavement).
  • Transition driveway aprons to new roadway surface.
  • Placement of pavement markings, regulatory and street signage.


Construction crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The project will be completed in approximately three weeks.

On trash/recycling pick-up day, residents are advised to have their trash/recycling out to the curbside by 6 a.m. The trucks will be arriving prior to the 7 a.m. construction start time.

Carroll Road will be closed to through traffic during road construction. Traffic detours will be established for residential traffic flow. The closing of the road will make the construction zone safer for both the residents and construction crews. It will also accelerate the project completion time and vastly improve the overall quality of the project.
