The Train Kept A-Rollin', All Night Long

You may see trains running on the commuter rail at odd hours this weekend. There's a reason.

MASSACHUSETTS — The big freeze is setting in this weekend, and Keolis, which operates the MBTA Commuter Rail, is taking special precautions to make sure that the trains and other necessary equipment operate properly during the cold.

People may notice that locomotives are running at unusual hours or idling overnight, said Keolis.

“We apologize in advance to anyone inconvenienced by this. But by keeping the equipment running when it gets this cold, we know from experience we are less likely to have mechanical issues that could create delays for commuter rail passengers over the weekend and into their weekday commute.”
