Tutoring Pilot Program Praised

Eight Grafton Middle School students saw their grades improve after Grafton High School National Honor Society chapter students tutored them this spring.

Eight Grafton Middle School students saw their grades improve after Grafton High School National Honor Society chapter students tutored them this spring, GMS Assistant Principal Timothy Fauth said Monday night.

Grafton High senior Ryan Lima spearheaded this pilot program, Fauth told the Grafton School Committee.

Eight GMS students worked individually with eight National Honor Society students from March 4 to May 16, Fauth said.

"Every single GMS student that participated in that program saw their academic scores rise subsquently," and "some significantly," he said.

Fauth said he and Lima met weekly in January and February.

"Ryan possesses not only outstanding character traits, but also has been invested in this project from day one in the same way our teachers have been invested in our students," Fauth said of Lima, who will attend WPI this fall.
