The mother duck stood over her ducklings, down in the drain, when officers arrived.

On Sunday, May 14, Officer Tom Farrell from the Grafton Police Department headed over to Sean Mikeal Way, where there was a report of some ducklings that were stuck in a storm drain.

Police said that when Farrell arrived, he found the mother duck standing vigil near the drain, in which her brood was trapped.

Officer Farrell requested that DPW be notified and a short time later, Highway Superintendent Dave Crouse arrived. Dave and Officer Farrell removed the ducklings from the storm drain and returned them to their waiting mother, said police.

"Thanks to Dave and Officer Farrell, mother and ducklings waddled away, none the worse for their experience," wrote police on their Facebook page.
