Wine and Art Mix Well

Cirrus' Wine Cellar showcases local artists.

Famous American painter and artist Andy Warhol was once quoted as saying that being good at business is the most fascinating kind of art.

One local resident has taken that to the next level by keeping art in mind when designing the interior of her wine store.

Cirrus' Wine Cellar is a quaint wine shop in the center of town that presents a combination of both art and wine. Owner Wen He has managed the store for the last four years at the location at 1 Grafton Common.

The 47-year-old Grafton resident has a great appreciation for art and wine and has used her interests to develop the ideas for her business.

“Personally, I love wine and I love art”, she said. "It's always a very good combination.''

Cirrus' Wine Cellar offers many different varieties of wines and beers. The small wine shop fits in perfectly with the unique atmosphere at the old Town House Building. He designed the interior of the store with artists in mind.

Everything from the wall paint to the lighting and the wine bins were put together with the idea of exhibiting the works of local artists.

“Customers can come to enjoy the wine and the art,'' He said.

Walking through the aisles at Cirrus' Wine Cellar can feel somewhat like strolling through a local art gallery. The wooden wine bins were designed by He, who wanted to leave as much wall space as possible to display local art.

The shelving was built at a lower level to maximize wall space. Many of the paintings on display even have their own picture lights.

Paintings hanging on the walls feature landscapes, flowers, and well-known vintage advertising prints. He also features other types of art in her store, including hand-painted wine glasses by Grafton resident Nans Gordon.

He has used wine tastings at her store to introduce new artists with great success.

Bonnie Fredrico of Grafton is one of the artists whose work is on display at Cirrus'. The paintings of Robert Graves of Sutton and Mike Graves of Millbury can also be seen at the shop. In addition, customers can find business cards and other contact information for the artists at the front counter.

Cirrus' Wine Cellar offers sales in store and online. Wine recommendations and other information about the store can be found by visiting Cirruswine.com.
