Boy, 13, Seriously Injured By Airborne Umbrella At Beach

The boy suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

GLOUCESTER, MA — A 13-year-old Florida boy was seriously injured after an airborne umbrella struck him at Good Harbor Beach.

Gloucester Fire Chief Eric Smith said firefighters responded to the beach around 1:40 p.m., where they found the boy with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The boy was carried off the beach and taken to Beverly Hospital.

Gloucester EMTs carried the boy off of the beach, and he was transported by ambulance to Beverly Hospital.
