50 Million Americans. That’s how many people in our country don’t know where they’re going to find their next meal. In order to bring attention to this critical issue, I have joined with Endicott College to host a special screening and discussion of "A Place at the Table," a new documentary that exposes the reality of the hunger epidemic in our nation today. I invite students and local residents to join us on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 pm for this event.
Following the documentary, I will moderate a Q&A with local advocates and professors on the prevalence of hunger in our communities and what needs to be done to fix it. According to a 2006 report by the Boston non-profit, Project Bread, the incidence of hunger in Peabody, Salem, and Gloucester is six times greater than the statewide average. One out of every three children in those towns lives in a family that struggles to put food on the table.
