The Devils Footprint returns to Meeting House Green in Ipswich on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This free community event explores one of Ipswich's strangest local legends through history, folklore, music, storytelling, art, puppetry, and conversation. The 2026 theme is Revolution.
Visitors can stop by throughout the afternoon to explore historical displays, visit the Devils Footprint, learn about the geology of the rock, hear different versions of the story, and take part in family friendly activities.
The day will also include a community discussion panel, music, creative readings and interpretations connected to Revolution and the Devils Footprint, and a youth puppet experience where children can make townspeople puppets and perform their own personalized version of the legend.
The event takes place on Meeting House Green at 1 Meetinghouse Green, Ipswich, MA.
Admission is free and open to the public. Optional donations help support the event and keep community programming accessible.
