Gordon College Athletes Host 3rd Annual Food Drive
Gordon College student athletes, from a host of different teams, collected food to donate to the local Salvation Army chapter.

WENHAM, MA—Fresh off the heels of a successful Operation Christmas Child campaign, the Gordon College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) finished their fall 2016 semester with the 3rd annual SAAC food drive. Over 40 student athletes, from a host of different teams, came together to collect food across the Gordon College campus and residence halls over the first week of December.
Gordon's SAAC has seen growth in student participation and outreach over the past three years, culminating with its most successful food drive to date this holiday season. Pulling navy blue wagon's through the resident halls, the students collected 430 food items during their one-night food drive, which is almost 200 more than they collected during the first installment of the event two years ago.
"The student-athletes who have given their time and focus to SAAC have had an intangible effect on the student body and overall energy surrounding athletics in and around the Gordon community," said SAAC Director and Women's Basketball Coach Lauren Wolfinger. "Their continual involvement and hard-work has not only been important to the growth of SAAC, but also to their own college experience. I'm grateful for those who have contributed and excited to see what else SAAC will accomplish through service to those on and off our campus."
