Hamilton Musicians to Play in Waterfront Honors Concert

Two youth musicians from Hamilton are part of the Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras that will perform its Honors Chamber Ensemble Concert on March 23 at the Shalin Liu Performance Center.

Ian van Maaren and Jeanine Zheng of Hamilton will be two of about 30 yopung musicians who will play in Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras' Honors Chamber Ensemble Concert on March 23 at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport.

Maaren plays the cello and Zheng, a student at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, plays the oboe.

“Our Honors Chamber Concert features NMYO’s top student musicians,” saoid Trudy Larson, the orchestra's string and chamber music director, “chosen because they demonstrate a high level of skill and musicianship.”

This concert will include music from some of the masters of the chamber music genre such as Beethoven and Mozart, in addition to more contemporary composers.

The Honors Concert will feature around 30 musicians from all over northeast Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire playing in small chamber ensembles as well as selected soloists.

This concert is free and open to the public and is for all ages. It runs about an hour and a reception will follow.

This concert is sponsored, in part, by the Geoffrey H. Richon Company, with grants from the Gloucester and Rockport Cultural Councils, which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
