Health Officials Warn People Who Ate At North Shore Restaurant
DPH is warning people after a food service employee tested positive for hepatitis A, saying they could have exposed.
ROCKPORT, MA — State health officials are warning people recently who ate at a seafood restaurant in Rockport after a food service employee tested positive for hepatitis A. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is urging anyone who ate cold or uncooked food, or are unsure what they ate, between April 21 and May 21 at Roy Moore's Fish Shack to talk to their doctor because of the possible exposure.
DPH said a vaccine and hepatitis A immune globulin could prevent a hepatitis A infection if administered within two weeks of exposure. The early signs and symptoms of hepatitis A are fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and jaundice, health officials said.
The illness is spread as a result of fecal contamination and can be spread from person to person through close contact or food handling, including contaminated food and drink.
