Hydroponic Vertical Grow Wall Ribbon-Cutting & 1st Annual 8th Grade Science Fair
Join us at Miles River Middle School on Thursday, June 9th from 6:30pm - 7:00pm for our Hydroponic Vertical Grow Wall Ribbon-Cutting Event.

You are invited to attend the Miles River Middle School Hydroponic Vertical Grow Wall Ribbon-Cutting event on Thursday, June 9th from 6:30pm - 7:00pm followed by the First Annual 8th Grade Science Fair from 7:00pm - 8:00pm, located in the multi-purpose room.
The Hydroponic Vertical Grow wall is a new learning space funded by the Hamilton-Wenham Education Fund and designed by Rootdown Hydroponics Indoor Garden Center in Medford, MA. The HW Environmental Team of teachers, lead by Danielle Petrucci, implemented this cross-curricular space to increase project-based learning using an innovative, 21st Century tool. The produce grown throughout the year will be used in the middle school cafeteria with 10% of each harvest donated to Acord Food Pantry.
Samples of MRMS-grown lettuce will be served at the ribbon-cutting along with volunteer students explaining the healthy impact of growing your own. A representative from Rootdown Hydroponics will be present to discuss the design of the custom hydroponic vertical grow wall. There will also be small home hydroponic kits for sale at $20 to help fund the Environmental Team's future initiatives for a sustainable school environment.
