Newburyport Police Arrest Juice Bar Burglary Suspect

Police have arrested a man accused of breaking into a juice bar in Newburyport.

NEWBURYPORT, MA – Newburyport and Salisbury police have identified and arrested a suspect in a juice bar break-in at the Tannery Marketplace.

Jason Balser, 29, of Salisbury, was arrested Monday on charges of breaking and entering a building in the nighttime to commit a felony, larceny over $250, and malicious destruction of property over $250.

"I would like to acknowledge the effort of our officers and detectives, including Inspector Michael Sugrue, for bring a speedy resolution to this case," City Marshal Mark Murray said. "This is a fine example of aggressive and diligent policing, working in close partnership with our neighbors in Salisbury."

On April 26, Newburyport Police were called to Revitalive Cafe & Juice Bar on Water Street on a report of a past burglary. A window in the entrance door was broken, and the door was found open. The register was broken into, and cash was missing.

Surveillance tapes caught the break-in around 12:30 a.m., and got footage of the suspect, which helped police identify him.
