Residents of Hamilton and Wenham can now have a detailed look at information informing the proposed Fiscal Year 2016 budget for Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District.

Superintendent Mike Harvey said the proposed FY16 schools budget documents outline in detail how the requested funds will help the district “meet its mission of educating our students to become ’young adults who are of good character and demonstrate mastery of the knowledge and skills needed to be successful members of our global economy and engaged citizens of the 21st Century.’”

The operating budget request comes in at $923,000 (3.2 percent) more than the FY15 request after taking into account various revenue sources, Harvey explained in a blog post.

According to Harvey the centerpiece of the budget is a requested staffing increase necessary to implement a team-based model at Miles River Middle School.

“This model, which is central to the middle school organizational philosophy, will provide greater personalization of instruction for all students in grades 6-8,” he wrote.
