Second Internally Lit Gas Sign Goes up in Downtown Hamilton
Downtown Hamilton is now home to two electronic signs to display gas prices.
Downtown Hamilton is getting its second internally lit gas station sign in the past six months installed this week.
Workers on Monday began installing a new, more modern sign at , at the corner of Bay and Walnut roads that will include an electronic display for gas prices.
In May, installed an . It was the first electronic sign in what was otherwise a downtown dominated by mostly plain, externally lit signs.

In early October, the Hamilton Zoning Board of Appeals granted a permit for the new Gulf sign. when representatives for the gas station didn't show up at the first ZBA hearing. But after two meetings, the new sign was approved with a series of conditions. The sign's size and the number of other signs on the property were both scaled back after recieving feedback from the board.
The new sign will be installed on the same pole and at the same height as the prior sign.

As a condition of the approval, several other signs on the property that do not meet current zoning laws will be removed. A complete copy of the ZBA decision is attached to this story as a PDF.
A spokeswoman for Cumberland Farms, which owns and operates the gas station and repair garage, did not return an e-mail or phone message left on Monday.
