Superintendent Explains Snow Day Makeup Options
Superintendent Michael Harvey addresses the "when will classes end for the summer?" question in his latest blog post.

Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District Superintendent Michael Harvey is in a bit of a “snow daze,” according to his latest blog post.
In it, he explains the efforts the district has taken to ensure safety for students and staff as well as his own turmoil regarding when to cancel classes.
“Ultimately, the decision to close school is not one that I enter into lightly,” he writes. “As a mater of fact, I can say that I truly hate to close school.”

But close it he has -- seven times so far this winter.
If no more snow days are necessary this year, the final day of classes will be Wednesday, June 24, Harvey explains. Two additional snow days would push the last day to Friday, June 26.

Where it gets interesting is if more than two additional snow days are needed.
“If we need to close for any days beyond these two, we could hold classes on Monday, March 9, which is currently scheduled as a Teacher’s Workshop Day, and on Friday, April 3, which is Good Friday,” he writes, going on to note that anyone observing Good Friday for religious reasons would be excused from class.
