Teen Charged In North Shore Daylight Carjacking, Assault

Police said the Dracut 19-year-old attempted to steal the car at about 2 p.m. near Route 22.

WENHAM, MA — A Dracut teen was to be arraigned on carjacking and assault charges on Thursday after police said he attempted to steal a car on the North Shore on Wednesday afternoon.

Wenham Police Chief Kevin DiNapoli said Garlens Suffrin, 19, of Dracut, was charged with carjacking, assault and battery, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Suffrin was set to appear in Newburyport District Court on Thursday to face the charges.

DiNapoli said Wenham Police got a report of a carjacking on Rubbly Road — Route 22 — at about 2:15 on Wednesday. He said the investigation determined that Suffrin attempted to take the car and that a struggle with the owner ensued.

Police said Suffrin left the scene of the incident and was found with the car on Larch Row a few minutes later.
