WENHAM, MA — For one month only, Wenham police are adding scruff to their uniforms. The department announced that it will participate in "No Shave November," to highlight and raise money for men's health.

While the hashtag No Shave November tends to go viral every year, police departments have extra fun with the trend since it's the one time officers are allowed to grow out their facial hair. The viral trend is also a way for departments to shed light on men's health and raise money for the cause.

By making a donation to the Movember Foundation, Officers will be able to grow a beard for the month. The Movember Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for men's health and raising money for causes like testicular and prostate cancer and suicide and mental health.

The department has a team registered with the foundation with a website where people can donate and see photos of the officers participating (and their newly grown scruff). The department said it will post photos of the officers to ti's Facebook page at the end of the month so residents can see the finished beards.
