Woman, Cats Rescued From Fire At Wenham Senior Housing Apartment
Ten people are displaced after a fire at an apartment building operated by the Wenham Housing Authority.
WENHAM, MA — An elderly woman and her two cats were rescued from a two-alarm fire inside an apartment building for elderly and disabled residents Sunday morning.
Ten people were displaced in the two-alarm blaze that started in a second-floor apartment in Enon Village on Larch Lane. The apartment building is operated by the Wenham Housing Authority.
Police and fire arrived around 7:40 a.m. Firefighters began working on the fire and a police officer evacuated residents.

Firefighters found the 69-year-old woman unresponsive inside the apartment where the fire began. She was carried out and revived outside the building. The woman was taken to Beverly Hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is unknown.
Two cats were also rescued; one was given oxygen by firefighters. Both are expected to survive.

The fire was contained to the one apartment, but four apartments are uninhabitable due to water and smoke damage.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. It is not believed to be suspicious.
