2017 Hingham 4th Of July Parade: What You Need To Know

The annual parade leaves Hingham High School Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

HINGHAM, MA — Two beloved annual community events will be held this Tuesday.

The Hingham 4th of July road race and parade are scheduled for the morning of Independence Day. The 5K race starts at 7 a.m., with registration beginning at 5:30 a.m.

The course is 4.47 miles and is considered fast and runner friendly. The race starts at Hingham Middle School and goes down Main Street. At the end of the race, bus transportation back to the Middle School leaves South Street near the CVS parking lot starting at 7:30 a.m.

At 10 a.m., between 20,000-25,000 people will line the streets of Hingham for the 4th of July parade. This year's theme is "Star Spangled Salute" and the grand marshals are retiring Hingham High School Principal Paula Girouard McCann, retiring Hingham High School principal and retiring Plymouth River Elementary School Principal Chuck Cormier.

The parade will start near the Hingham High School at the intersection of Middle and Pleasant street and will head north across Route 228 before joining Main Street in Hingham Center. The parade will then follow Main Street to Hingham Square, turn right onto North Street, and finish at Station Street. The parade is about 75 minutes long.

From 6 a.m. - 3 p.m., the following roads will have no parking:
  • North Street from Station Street to Main Street
  • Station Street in area of Hingham Sewer Department building
  • Main Street from Hingham Square to Cold Corner
  • Spring Street
  • School Street
  • Pleasant Street from Main Street to School Street
  • Middle Street
