After Mastering the SATs, Two Seniors Create Tutoring Service
HHS seniors Harry Rein and Jackson Stone want to help other students master the SATs.
seniors Harry Rein and Jackson Stone did not search for a summer job this year; instead they created their own business.
The two entrepreneurs formed a group of their smartest friends from HHS AP classes and created their own tutoring service, Hingham High Tutoring. The goal of their business is to help Hingham students who struggle with the SATs, homework and difficult subjects.
“We’ve been through all the hardest classes at the high school so we can go back and tutor any area and our feedback has been spectacular,” Stone said.

In February, the two seniors created their own website, hinghamhightutoring.com, where parents can schedule times for their children to meet with the tutors. The website includes biographies and photos of each tutor, and a calendar of available tutoring hours.
“We want to be flexible with our schedule,” Stone said. “We want to be able to accommodate whatever our customers want.”

Rein and Stone will graduate June 4 and have already built strong resumes for their future. The HHS seniors are top students in their class. In the Fall, Rein, age 17, will attend MIT and study computer engineering and management science. He is captain of three varsity sports: football, winter track and spring track and has accumulated a weighted GPA of 3.94 on a 4.0 scale over his high school career. Stone, age 18, will be attending the College of William and Mary this coming September to study neuroscience. He is captain of two varsity sports, president of the Latin Club and captain of the Math Team. Over his four years he has accumulated a weighted GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.
Rein and Stone have each mastered the SATs. Not only do they help students learn the material for a test, they help them learn techniques for taking the test. Both Rein and Stone have never even taken an SAT prep course but have learned the test taking techniques by reading SAT prep books.
Rein received a score of 2310 on his SATs (800 Math, 740 Critical Reading, 770 Writing) and high scores on additional SAT II tests. Stone scored a 2370 on his SATs (800 Critical Reading, 790 Math, 780 Writing) and also scored high scores on his SAT IIs for Math and Physics.
“The basic thing that we have that other people don’t is that we can teach you not only the material on the test, but how to take the test,” Rein said. “If you don’t know how to guess, we can teach you how to guess.”
The seniors’ new service has already been a success. They have already started to see their client’s grades and scores improve.
“I have one kid I’m tutoring in Algebra II and he is ecstatic about,” Stone said. “He’s doing really well and getting 100s on the test.”
Hingham High Tutors will be available to tutor all summer and during college winter break, from mid-December to mid-January. Other available Hingham High Tutors are seniors Joseph Centurelli, Maggie Neterval and Andrew Greene, who with Rein and Stone have a have an average cumulative SAT score above 2300 and an average weighted GPA of 3.9.
For a private standard tutoring session, Hingham High Tutors charge $30 per hour and for SAT tutoring, they charge $35 per hour. They also offer package deals for students who need tutors for 10 hours or more.
