β’ Hingham man marks 50 years of fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy Association (boston25news.com) β A long-running Hingham Labor Day tradition just hit a remarkable milestone, as resident Jay Tolman celebrated 50 consecutive years of raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, now totaling more than $760,000. What began in his mother's backyard in 1976 has grown into an annual community gathering that educates neighbors about neuromuscular disease and keeps drawing people back year after year.
