Hingham, MA —Hingham residents looking to clear out their medicine cabinets will soon have a safe way to dispose of unwanted prescription medications.
The Hingham Police Department has teamed up with the Drug Enforcement Administration for its annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, residents can drop off unwanted, expired or unused prescription medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police station, located at 35 Essington Drive.
During the event, residents can bring their medications to the police station lobby and hand them directly to an officer for safe disposal.
Those unable to make it during the scheduled hours can still dispose of unwanted prescription medications using the secure drop box in the station's lobby.
However, there are a few restrictions. Syringes, needles, liquids, gels and ointments will not be accepted.
The process is simple: No questions will be asked, and no paperwork is required.
For residents looking to safely get rid of old medications, the event offers a convenient way to clean out their medicine cabinets.
