At about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers in Mattapan responded to a call for a person stabbed on Abbot Street. Officers were informed that a man exiting a red Honda was bleeding from his face and appeared to be armed with a firearm. A man fitting that description was located in the area, however, he immediately fled from officers, first in his vehicle then on foot. The man was eventually located on Harvard Street and was suffering from a laceration to his arm. Officers detained the man, while additional units followed a trail of blood that led officers to Vesta Road, where officers observed that the male had broken into the basement. Further investigation also revealed that the red Honda had been reported stolen out of Canton.

As a result of further investigation, property belonging to individuals from Milton and Canton was recovered from the suspect and the stolen vehicle. Detectives contacted Milton and Canton authorities and confirmed that the property had been stolen from multiple breaks in both towns over the past two days. These incidents include residential breaks and a break-in at the 99 Restaurant in Canton earlier on Tuesday morning. Milton detectives also provided detectives with video showing the suspect using his arm to break a window in Milton, causing his injury.
