Hingham 8th Graders Graduate from Inly School
Two Hingham 8th graders graduated from Inly School in Scituate, MA this June. Both gave speeches and shared stories of their experiences at Inly.
On Friday, June 7, Inly School celebrated the graduation of its 8th grade and Kindergarten classes. The ceremony was held in the Meehan Family Artsbarn on Inly’s campus and included speeches from all of the graduating 8th graders as well as performances from Middle School and Kindergarten choruses. The event was also live-streamed for family and friends who were unable to attend the ceremony.
When asked what makes Inly’s graduation ceremony so special, Donna Milani Luther, Head of School for nearly 17 years, replied, “I believe our graduation ceremony is an excellent example of what makes us unique. Unlike other graduation ceremonies, which typically only highlight a few students, all Inly graduates are expected to deliver a speech and are celebrated for their achievements.”
One by one, every member of the 8th grade class stood before the crowd of parents and peers to share their stories. Some reflected on the amusing stumbles they experienced as they grew up. Others reflected on the amazing experiences and teachers they had at Inly School. Milani Luther noted, “The speeches give our students the opportunity to give pause on such a momentous occasion and reflect on what they have learned thus far and to look toward their futures, which are undoubtedly bright.”

8th Grader, Matthew Heffernan of Hingham, shared a few amusing stories about his first experiences at Inly. The entire audience erupted in laughter when he confessed that his first impression of the school librarian (known for her kind disposition) was that she was a monster. He went on to say that he has since learned the error of his ways and realized that his fear was in fact silly.
