CAN WINTER BE FAR AWAY?

Fall is passing us bye,

And winter is headed our way.

The leaves are falling very fast,

And I saw flights of geese today.

The geese are fair warning,

Cold weather has forced them South.

My turnips will soon be ready to eat,

Honey, shut my mouth.

Cooler weather will be welcome

And is knocking on the door.

Get the boots and heavy coats,

The ones you have worn before.

When you reach a certain age,

You seem to never out grow your clothes.

They may get thread bare, but

You discard them because of holes.

I am not into fashion,

Holes in jeans I do not desire.

I do not show my underwear,

And certainly not my entire.

Bring on the cold weather,

They may now cover up those holes.

If they fail to plug them up,

I will pray for their soles,

Shoes, I mean.
