Committee Holds Off on Land Purchase Proposal

Officials in Hingham are waiting for a firmer appraisal before endorsing the purchase of Lehner Parcels.

HINGHAM, MA — A possible purchase of the “Lehner Parcels” will take longer than originally planned.

Tuesday, the Community Preservation Committee voted to delay asking the selectmen and town meeting to fund a multimillion-dollar bond to buy the 58-acre property, according to the Patriot Ledger. The committee was scheduled to discuss the issue with the selectmen Wednesday night.

If approved by town meeting, a $4.5 million bond would be issued for the purchase with an immediate $500,000 appropriation.
