Coronavirus: Hingham Tax Payment Deadlines Extended
Hingham residents will have until to June 1 to pay property taxes and property tax exemptions.
HINGHAM, MA — Hingham has delayed the deadline for property tax bills and property tax exemptions until June 1. The annual town election has been postponed until June 22 and the annual town election is postponed until June 27.
Personal property tax bills due on May 1 are now due on June 1. Applications for property tax exemptions previously due on April 1 are now due on June 1.
The number of Massachusetts residents applying for first-time unemployment benefits during the week that ended April 4 was 139,582. While that was down from last week's total, analysts warned the actual number of people forced out of work by the new coronavirus may be much higher than those in Thursday's U.S. Department of Labor report. That's because the massive influx of claims has slowed processing. And the situation is expected to worsen; a report released Wednesday warned that Massachusetts unemployment could pass 25 percent by June.
